Longtime "60 Minutes" commentator Andy Rooney died at age 92, just a month after his final appearance on the Sunday evening program.
Rooney's grumpy attitude and complaints about change made curmudgeon - "a crusty, ill-tempered, opinionated and usually old man" - a fitting description. The word is often used affectionately.
As the obituary on NPR put it: "Rooney was one of the most famous curmudgeons in American public life."
