Note: In terms of phonetic patterning, queef is inseparable from quiff "vagina, vulva, a woman as an object of sexual gratification," a much older word, unless queef has escaped notice for several centuries. Still earlier is a verb quiff "to have sexual intercourse," attested in the seventeenth century—see citations in Jonathan Green, Green's Dictionary of Slang, online. Green also records a variant quoiff, though in the use in question the word is perhaps a variant of coif "close-fitting cap" (see coif entry 1), punning on quiff ("… And she was forced to stand on her Guard, // To keep his Clutches from her Quoiff," from the song "The Hopeful Bargain," in Thomas d'Urfey, editor, Wit and Mirth, or Pills to Purge Melancholy, vol. 5 [London, 1719], p. 259).
