Where does sussy baka come from?
The sussy in sussy baka is an extension of the slang word sus or suss, meaning “suspicious, suspect.” In Japanese, Baka (バカ) means “fool.” As Adam Aleksic notes in Algospeak: How Social Media Is Transforming the Future of Language (2025), “The expression started out as a self-deprecating joke for members of the anime in-group to make fun of how others in their community talk, but the algorithm quickly figured out that other people also found it funny, so sussy baka spread as a humorous expression helping people bond online, ostensibly at the expense of anime fans.” Use of sussy baka was also popularized by the popular online video game Among Us, in which some players’ avatars are secretly assigned to kill the other, unsuspecting avatars.
How is sussy baka used?
Calling someone a sussy baka is similar to calling them a cross between a silly goose and a sneaky devil.
