Where does slap come from?
The musical sense of slap is thought to come from California hip-hop culture in the early 2000s. From there it gained mainstream popularity through social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter in the late 2010s and early 2020s.
How is slap used?
Slap functions as an intransitive verb (meaning there is no direct object, and nothing is actually being struck with an open palm). It conveys enthusiastic and youthful approval.
