Where does face card come from?
This use of face card (there are others) comes from ballroom culture, an LGBTQ+ subculture in which drag performers compete in contests known as balls and are judged on their costuming, hair, dance, personality, and other qualities and skills. Face card has since become popular more broadly on social media.
How is face card used?
Face card is often preceded by the adjective lethal to say that someone’s face is especially attractive, or followed by “never declines” to indicate that the person’s face always looks good.
