Where does curve come from?

Evidence of the slang use of curve dates at least as far back as the late 00s. It may represent an extension of the sense of curve meaning “to cause to curve,” i.e. to cause to take a turn, change, or deviation from (something). In this way, the “reject” sense of curve is similar to divert or turn away, as can be seen in the following example where a kiss is curved, not the would-be kisser.

Oh no, not on national TV! This chick was trying to give a smooch to a guy we can assume went with her to this sports event but he curved her attempt!

How is curve used?

There must be (at least) fifty ways to curve your suitor. Curve is often used generally to cover most of them, but is sometimes used specifically to subtle or indirect yet clear acts of showing disinterest in someone’s wooing.

There is also some evidence of curve being used to mean snub in platonic contexts.
