Medical Definition of sural nerve

: any of several nerves in the region of the calf of the leg especially : one formed by the union of a branch of the tibial nerve with a branch of the common peroneal nerve that supplies branches to the skin of the back of the leg and sends a continuation to the little toe by way of the lateral side of the foot
