Note: An article in the New York Times ("What is 'Cheugy'? You Know It When You See It" by Taylor Lorenz, published April 29, 2021) credits coinage of the word to Gaby Rasson, a Los Angeles software developer. According to her own account, she first used it in 2013 when she was a student at Beverly Hills High School.
