New Latin sinaiticus, from Sinai, mountain probably of the Gebel Musa group in South Sinai peninsula from which according to Exodus 19:20 God gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites and Sinai, peninsula in northeastern Egypt at the north end of the Red sea (from Late Latin, from Hebrew Sïnai) + Latin -iticus -itic
