: an antibacterial drug C26H44O9 or its hydrated calcium salt (C26H43O9)2Ca·2H2O that is used in the topical treatment of impetigo caused by bacteria of the genera Streptococcus (S. pyogenes) and Staphylococcus (S. aureus)

Note: Mupirocin is derived from a bacterium of the genus Pseudomonas (P. fluorescens) and is marketed under the trademarks Bactroban and Centany.
