Biographical Note for ziehl–neelsen stain
Franz (1857–1926), German bacteriologist. A professor in Lübeck, Ziehl introduced the carbolfuchsin stain for the tubercle bacillus in 1882.
Friedrich Carl Adolf (1854–1894), German pathologist. Neelsen published a handbook of staining methods in 1892.
