Hjalmar

(1850–1927), Norwegian ophthalmologist. Schiotz introduced his tonometer at a meeting of the Norwegian Medical Society in 1905, publishing an article on his invention later that year. The tonometer was soon adopted world wide, becoming for the next half century the accepted means for measuring intraocular pressure.
