:a pattern of psychopathological behavior characterized by the giving of approximate answers (as 2 × 2 = about 5) and found in prisoners and in others who consciously or unconsciously seek to give misleading information regarding their mental state

  • Ganser, Sigbert Joseph Maria (1853–1931), German psychiatrist. In 1898 Ganser described the syndrome that now bears his name.
