:thromboangiitis of the small arteries and veins of the extremities and especially the feet resulting in occlusion, ischemia, and gangrene called also thromboangiitis obliterans

Biographical Note for buerger's disease

  • Buerger, Leo (1879–1943), American pathologist. In 1908 Buerger published an article on thromboangiitis obliterans. He presented the first clear description of this disease and distinguished it from endarteritis obliterans.
