Biographical Note for bruch's membrane
Karl Wilhelm Ludwig (1819–1884), German anatomist. Bruch served as professor of anatomy and physiology at the University of Basel from 1850 to 1855. He then was appointed professor at the University of Giessen, the institution where he had originally earned his medical degree. He was the first to isolate the structure now known as Bruch's membrane, which he described in his 1844 doctoral thesis.
