  1. 1a :  the corrugated often flowerlike woody scar left upon the host when a mistletoe is wrenched from its support —called also wood flower b (1) :  a shrub rose (Rosa gymnocarpa) of the California coastal area having long straight prickles, red flowers, and pear-shaped or globose fruit with deciduous calyx lobes (2) less commonly wooden rose :  a tropical tuberous climbing woody vine (Merremia tuberosa synonym Ipomoea tuberosa) of the family Convolvulaceae grown especially for its hard showy yellow rose-shaped calyx and seed capsule

  2. 2 :  a light grayish brown to reddish brown that is darker and slightly less strong than sandstone —called also sorghum brown
