: a severe and frequently fatal gastroenteritis of sheep or sometimes goats that occurs in parts of Kenya and is caused by a bunyavirus (species Nairobi sheep disease orthonairovirus of the genus Orthonairovirus) transmitted by the bite of an African tick especially of the genus Rhipicephalus (R. appendiculatus)
