Note: Mount McKinley is the highest peak in North America. In 1917, it was named after U.S. President William McKinley as part of the establishment of Mount McKinley National Park (now Denali National Park and Preserve). It was officially renamed Denali in 2015 to reflect a traditional Athabascan name as recognized by the state of Alaska. In 2025, the name Mount McKinley was officially restored by executive order.
