fourth in a series of lighthouses dating back to 1699 and constructed on Eddystone Rocks, a rocky English islet located in the English Channel 14 miles (23 kilometers) southwest of Plymouth

Note: The present lighthouse was built in 1882 with a heliport added in the late 20th century.
