Biographical Note for OHM

Ohm, Georg Simon (1789–1854), German physicist. Ohm is best remembered for his discovery of a law of electricity that is now called Ohm's law in his honor. He summarized his discovery in a pamphlet published in 1827. His work exerted great influence on the theory and applications of current electricity. The physical unit measuring electrical resistance was officially designated the ohm by the Paris Electrical Congress of 1881.
