Podcast

This image indicates that there is an RSS feed available for the Web content you are viewing. The feed includes an audio feature called a "podcast," which you can play and listen to on your computer or on a mobile audio device, like an MP3 player or an iPod. The image links directly to an XML file, which is a specially formatted file containing information about the feed.

RSS feeds allow you to retrieve the latest content from the sites you are interested in without having to visit each site individually or subscribe to numerous email newsletters. To subscribe to and read an RSS feed you need to use a feed reader, also called an "aggregator". This software is designed to gather the feeds you have subscribed to as they are updated and display them for you to browse at your leisure.

Similarly, you can subscribe to podcasts using special "podcatcher" software designed to manage and play podcasts.

To subscribe to RSS feeds and podcasts, agreggator/podcatcher software requires you to submit a URL that points to the location of the RSS feed. To do this, right-click on the RSS feed image, copy the link URL, then paste it into your aggregator software when prompted.

For more information about RSS feeds, podcasts, and aggregators, search for these terms with your favorite Web search engine.
