Reconcile

When:

Lookups spiked on February 20, 2012.

Why:

The word appeared in two different celebrity news stories. In one, Rihanna and Chris Brown recorded together three years after separating, prompting some to call it a "reconciliation." In the other, supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal announced plans to divorce, confirming that they will not "reconcile" after their separation.

Reconcile means "to restore to friendship or harmony" and comes from a Latin word that means "to bring together again."
