Investment guru Warren Buffett published an opinion piece in The New York Times – arguing that tax rates should be raised for the wealthiest Americans – entitled "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich."

Coddle means "to treat someone with too much care or kindness" or "to pamper."

It likely derives from the name of a medieval medicine: giving someone that medicine was a way of taking care of them.
