Misogyny

In reaction to Rush Limbaugh's comments about ...

When:

Lookups spiked on March 2, 2012.

Why:

The word was widely used in commentaries about Rush Limbaugh calling a Georgetown Law student a "slut" and a "prostitute" after she testified at a congressional hearing against health care exemptions for religious institutions.

Misogyny, which means "hatred of women," comes from the Greek word with the same meaning.
