The word was used by the lawyer of Trayvon Martin's family to describe the apology delivered in court by the man accused of murdering their son.
Disingenuous means "not truly honest or sincere." It comes from the Latin words for "not a freeborn person." In English the meaning of the word has changed from "not noble or honorable" to "not honest."
