Medical Definition of SUBSCAPULAR ARTERY

:  an artery that is usually the largest branch of the axillary artery, that arises opposite the lower border of the subscapularis muscle, and that passes down and back to the lower part of the scapula where it forms branches and anastomoses with arteries in that region
