: an age classification of blood neutrophils which is based on increasing irregularity or lobulation of the nucleus and in which the classes are myelocytes, metamyelocytes, band forms, and mature neutrophils having nuclei with two or more lobes—compare arneth index

Biographical Note for SCHILLING INDEX

Schilling, Victor Theodor Adolf Georg (1883–1960), German hematologist. Schilling introduced in 1924 a differential count of white blood cells, dividing the neutrophil cells into four groups.
