Definition of PIGNET INDEX

: a measure of the type of body build obtained by subtracting the sum of the weight in kilograms and the chest circumference in centimeters from the height in centimeters

Biographical Note for PIGNET INDEX

Pi·gnet \pē-nʸā\ Maurice–Charles–Joseph (born 1871), French physician. Pignet, who had a career as an army doctor, introduced the Pignet index in 1900. He also is credited with introducing a new method for the chemical analysis of water in 1902.
