: congenital bilateral paralysis of the facial muscles associated with other neurological disorders

Biographical Note for MöBIUS SYNDROME

Mö·bius \ˈ̅-bē-s\ Paul Julius (1853–1907), German neurologist. Möbius is remembered for his series of pathological studies of great men (Goethe, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Schumann, and Rousseau). He also wrote several books on nervous diseases and in 1879 published a work on hereditary nervous diseases. His descriptions include Möbius syndrome (1884) and an atrophic type of progressive muscular dystrophy found in children.
