Biographical Note for KUPFFER CELL
Kupffer, Karl Wilhelm von (1829–1902), German anatomist. Kupffer described the large stellate cells in the lining of the sinusoids of the liver first in 1876 and again in 1899. His observations led to a better understanding of the mononuclear phagocyte system.
