: a hereditary condition marked by hypogonadism caused by a deficiency of gonadotropins and anosmia caused by failure of the olfactory lobes to develop

Biographical Note for KALLMANN SYNDROME

Kallmann, Franz Josef (1897–1965), American geneticist and psychiatrist. Kallmann held positions as a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University and as chief psychiatrist at a state psychiatric institute in New York. He was best known for demonstrating how hereditary factors could play a major role in the development of psychoses. In 1952 he produced an important study that investigated the role of heredity in determining homosexuality.
