: a syndrome marked by sinking in of the eyeball, contraction of the pupil, drooping of the upper eyelid, and vasodilation and anhidrosis of the face, and caused by paralysis of the cervical sympathetic nerve fibers on the affected side

Biographical Note for HORNER'S SYNDROME

Horner, Johann Friedrich (1831–1886), Swiss ophthalmologist. Horner published his description of Horner's syndrome in 1869. The condition had been described previously at least twice and was produced in animals as early as 1727, but Horner's description was the one that attracted attention.
