: a common anomaly of the oral mucosa in which misplaced sebaceous glands form yellowish white nodules on the lips or the lining of the mouth

Biographical Note for FORDYCE'S DISEASE

Fordyce, John Addison (1858–1925), American dermatologist. Fordyce specialized in dermatology and syphilology. He was a pioneer in the modern diagnosis and treatment of syphilis. He studied the various phases of the disease, its infection of the nervous system, and the effects of treatment with arsenicals. In 1896 he described the condition now known as Fordyce's disease.
