:  a retrovirus (species Feline leukemia virus of the genus Gammaretrovirus) that is widespread in cat populations, is usually transmitted by direct contact, and is associated with or causes a variety of conditions and symptoms including malignant lymphoma, feline leukemia, anemia, glomerulonephritis, infertility, and immunosuppression
