Medical Definition of DRY SOCKET

:  a tooth socket in which after tooth extraction a blood clot fails to form or disintegrates without undergoing organization; also :  a condition that is marked by the occurrence of such a socket or sockets and that is usually accompanied by neuralgic pain but without suppuration
