  1. :  any of three arteries that branch from the mesenteric arteries and supply the large intestine:a:  a branch of the superior mesenteric artery serving the ascending colon—called also colica dextra, right colic arteryb:  a branch of the superior mesenteric artery serving the transverse colon—called also colica media, middle colic arteryc:  a branch of the inferior mesenteric artery supplying the descending colon—called also colica sinistra, left colic artery
