: a genetic disorder inherited as an autosomal recessive and characterized by partial albinism, abnormal granules in the white blood cells, and marked susceptibility to bacterial infections

Biographical Note for CHEDIAK-HIGASHI SYNDROME

Che·diak \shād-yȧk\ , Moises (flourished 1952), French physician, and Hi·ga·shi \hē-gäsh-ē\ , Ototaka (flourished 1954), Japanese physician. Chediak and Higashi independently of each other discovered the genetic disorder that bears their names.
