Biographical Note for BAUHIN'S VALVE

Bau·hin \bō-aⁿ\ Gaspard ??? (1560–1624), Swiss anatomist and botanist. Bauhin served for almost all of his career on the medical faculty at the University of Basel. There he taught both anatomy and botany and as a teacher of anatomy exerted a wide influence. Bauhin first became aware of the ileocecal valve in 1579, in the course of a private dissection, and he published an early account of the valve in 1588.
