  1. :  a rectangular metal frame fitted with adjustable straps of canvas or webbing and used to support a patient with disease or fractures of the spine, hip, or pelvis



Biographical Note for bradford frame

Bradford, Edward Hickling (1848–1926), American orthopedist. The inventor of the Bradford frame, Bradford described the frame in a treatise on orthopedic surgery published in 1890. Originally designed for handling children with tuberculosis of the spine, the frame was later modified for use in other orthopedic conditions.
