Lu

Vassal state of ancient China that originated during the Western Zhou and came to prominence in the Warring States period of the Eastern Zhou dynasty. It is known as the birthplace of Confucius. The Chunqiu (“Spring and Autumn Annals”), one of the Confucian Classics, records the major events at the court of Lu between 722 and 481 BC.
