The Pan-Slavic colors (blue, white, and red) have been in the flag from Oct. 31, 1918, and a central star was introduced after World War II, under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito. In 1991 the country broke up, leaving only Serbia and Montenegro united. The constitution of April 27, 1992, maintained the tricolor but omitted the star.
